June is National Kidney Month (Organ Donation Awareness Month and Prostate Health Month, as well) . The theme for this year’s Kidney Month Celebration is “Ikaw at Ako Panalo sa Malusog na Bato”. The theme itself encourages all of us to be aware and make known to all that taking care of our kidneys is vital to having a healthy and good life.
As part of this year’s celebration, the Department of Laboratory Medicine offers free “kidney function assessment” activities. Free laboratory examinations will be offered to the first 100 patients who will come to the laboratory every Friday of June (June 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, 2012).
Patients must present an NKTI physician’s request. Free laboratory tests include cholesterol, fasting blood sugar, serum creatinine and urinalysis. On June 7 and 8, 2012, free clinic will be held at the Quezon City Hall. There will be free urinalysis and blood sugar level testing, blood pressure determination and free medical consultation to first 200 patients. Med. Techs., nurses and doctors will be at the QC Hall on these dates from 8:00 A.M. onwards.
We are encouraging everyone as well to make a commitment to start living a healthy life by taking care of our kidneys. Thus, start by participating in this free kidney check-up activities
