Tissue Typing
The HLA Section is the first and only laboratory in the Philippines that performs a complete assay of histocompatibility tests in support of the organ transplantation and at the same time
caters to the demands of clinical immunology diagnostics.
Routine histocompatibility testing includes T-Cell Tissue Crossmatch, HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) Typing, and Panel Reactive Antibody screening. Special tests for HLA allonsensitized state such as B-Cell Tissue Crossmatch, Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG) Inhibited Tissue Crossmatch and Panel Reactive Antibody Specific completes the panel of tests that are very much helpful in the determination of the best organ recipient-donor match for the purpose of optimizing graft survival. HLA laboratory also caters HLA B27 Typing which is a test for Ankylosing Spondylitis.
